The Ninth Global Forum on Bioethics in Research

The Ninth Global Forum on Bioethics in Research will take place 3-5 December
2008
in Auckland, New Zealand, with the overarching theme of the ethics of research
involving indigenous peoples and vulnerable populations. The aims of the Forum are to
provide an inclusive forum for sharing and discussing ethical concerns and experiences
related to research involving indigenous peoples and vulnerable populations, explore
paradigms and belief systems and how these can be better understood and supported in
research ethics, and explore possibilities for including cultural frameworks in research
ethics policy.

A call for applications has now gone out - further details can be found at the website for
the Health Research Council of New Zealand http://gfbr9.hrc.govt.nz/, who are hosting
next year's Forum.

Ethical Considerations in Trauma Management

Introduction
This workshop is designed to enhance the essential concept and skills required while
managing client with trauma and injuries, with the special emphasis on legal and ethical
issues encountered by nurses in developing world.

Purpose of workshop
* Understand the concept of humanisation of care while dealing with trauma and
injuries
* Address the bridge in communication while dealing with clients at emergency and
trauma care setting
* Explore legal and ethical issues commonly encountered at above settings
* Discuss consent taking and related issues

·         Ms R. Lynne Harris
Ms Lynne is a trauma nurse, lawyer and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate. She
is a currently student member of the executive committee at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg
School of Public Health, USA.
